ALAHEDO invites proposals for presentations, plenary, posters, and workshops to be presented at the annual conference. Students, faculty, staff, community organizations, partners and local/regional/state industry entities (educational and professional) are encouraged to submit their ideas.
The conference theme is “Advancing the Promise: Enhancing Structural Equity to Promote Justice for All”
This is an opportunity for presenters to describe demonstrated or potentially effective innovation, best practices, strategies, programs, and models related to:
innovation for inclusive excellence in diversity, equity, and inclusion
research, innovation, or initiatives in areas of health equity and disparities
effective recruitment and retention efforts of underrepresented faculty and staff
utilizing diversity data as benchmark for innovation and strategic change
increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion ownership to all stakeholders
policy development for best practices of inclusive excellence
areas related to impact media/social media on diversity, equity and inclusion advancement
efforts
navigating the changing landscape and competing priorities around diversity, equity and inclusion
emerging challenges focused on the attacks on diversity, equity and inclusion
targeted recruitment & retention of underrepresented graduate students
service/community engagement focused on diversity, equity and inclusion
CONCURRENT SESSIONS/TRACKS
Presentations may include research findings, workshops, panels, or poster formats. Regular sessions or workshops should be tailored to fit within a 50-minute time frame and must include time for audience questions, a PowerPoint or other electronic format presentation, and handouts for participants. Panel sessions should be tailored to fit within a 60-minute time frame, be limited to 5 or less participants and must include time for audience questions. The panel presenter is responsible for securing and confirming panel guests. Posters will be available for viewing for up to 90 minutes and should provide visual displays on poster boards and handouts on tabletops for informational purposes only. Proposal selections will be made based on the review criteria and the needs of the conference.

All submitted proposals will be reviewed by members of the ALAHEDO Conference Proposal Review Committee.
We will not consider proposals where it appears that the focus of the session is primarily on promoting a specific commercial product.
If selected, you (or a designated alternate) must commit to presenting at the conference.
Presenters will be provided with more specific workshop and poster presentation guidelines
after proposal selections have been made.
Conference materials will be posted on ALAHEDO website to be made available to the
public after the conference.
A complete proposal consists of these five elements:
Completed Proposal Submission Form.
Relevant innovations, best practices, models, theories, and research.
Presentation abstract for printing in the conference program book. (100 words or less)
Narrative response to the proposal review criteria. (2 pages maximum)
Biographical sketch for each presenter (50 words or less)

NOTE: Please be aware that not all proposals submitted for presentation may be accepted. Accepted presenters will be notified by August 15, 2023. Presenters accepted for this conference do not receive honorarium, speaker’s fee or reimbursement of expenses associated with presenting at this conference. Presentation supplies and copying services are not provided. All presentations may be recorded for rebroadcast on campus for educational purposes. Also, all presentations may be stored in the University’s institutional repository for educational purposes.
