Call for Proposals

ALAHEDO invites diversity practitioners, faculty, staff, and students to submit proposals for presentation in oral, poster, or panel format. We welcome proposals according to the following themes related to diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education: 

  • Recruitment and Retention of Diverse Faculty
  • Recruitment and Retention of Diverse Students
  • Developing an Inclusive, Welcoming Campus Environment
  • Developing Cultural Competencies for Faculty, Staff and Students

Sample Topics include:
  • Strategic diversity plan development, implementation, and assessment
  • Free speech on campus
  • Climate assessment
  • Under-represented groups in higher education
  • Self-care for diversity professionals
  • Grassroots initiatives in higher education

TYPES OF SUBMISSIONS 
Best Practices 
All best practices presentation submissions should include a description, objectives to be covered, summary of activities,and evaluation or other critical assessment to showcase successes and lessons learned. 
 
Research 
All research presentation submissions should include problem statement, literature review, methodology, results, and conclusions.

Format of Presentations

Oral Presentation
Oral presentations submissions should inform conference participants of best practices and research on the conference topics. A question and answer period will follow the presentation. 
 
Poster Presentation
Poster presentations may include research findings, new practice ideas, innovations, and advances in the profession. Poster sessions allow presenters and attendees to engage in extended discussion. 
 
Panel Discussion 
Panel discussions will allow experts, practitioners and/or stakeholders to highlight important facts, to offer opinions and to share experiences on a conference topic. Each panel is limited to no more than 6 participants, including the primary presenter. Abstracts should include panel purpose, overview of topics to be discussed, panel participants and benefits of this discussion to conference participants.
 
Submit Proposal 
 
  1.  ABSTRACT
    Please submit a 250 to 400 word abstract of your proposal indicating the type of submission (Best Practices or Research) and the format of presentation (oral, poster, panel).All abstracts should be based on type of submission and formatted in a Word document.
